Archaeologists continue to unearth some amazing discoveries in Pompeii

Pompeii is perhaps the most interesting day (or overnight) trip you can make from Rome or Naples. Excavations are ongoing and unusual finds surface constantly. Just a few weeks ago during an excavation led by Freie Universität Berlin, the Università di Napoli in collaboration with the University of Oxford and the Parco Archeologico discovered an almost completely intact turtle that still hadn't laid its eggs under the pavement of a Pompeii bottega (shop).

The turtle has been in this spot since the earthquake and volcanic eruption over 2000 years ago.
