The Amalfi coast is at the top of everyone's Italy travel list and there's no doubt that it's a magnificent breathtaking drive as you look down to the water along this winding beautiful road. Most travelers head to Sorrento and Positano but there's much to see along the way. Time permitting you'll be enchanted by some of the fabulous spots you can visit off the beaten track.
One is the charming fishing village of Nerano that lies midway between Sorrento and the Amalfi coast. The town takes its name from Emperor Tiberio Nerone who was so enchanted by this village that he decided to build a summer villa here.
There are lots of fabulous hikes along the Amalfi coast and one you will undoubtedly enjoy is the 45 minute hike from the Nerano town center down to the Ieranto Bay. The views all along this walk are magnificent and look out towards the island of Capri.
