Thanksgiving has come and gone and so has the torturous Black Friday! In just the past few days there is fall in the air here in Rome so Iām beginning to focus on cuddly, sit-by-the-fire recipes.
A few weeks ago I finally visited the spectacular Spannocchia Estate in Tuscany. You probably remember a few years back I did a lengthy podcast episode with Spannocchia owner, Randall Stratton, who sadly passed away a month ago after a battle with cancer. Still at the helm are his wife Francesca and children.
Spannocchia is just a short drive from Siena, immersed in a huge expanse of land and from the moment you leave the main road and head into the Estate you feel like you've left the present and moved back to a past century.
The Spannocchia Estate is breathtaking and gorgeous, and if you're looking for a tourist-free spot in Tuscany this is where you should go. Accommodation is down-home and thoroughly enjoyable.
What I love about Spannocchia is the family-style dining (and by the way, you will definitely want to have all your meals here!) All meals are communal so you dine along with other guests at Spannocchia. We loved this, and as it turned out, met some fascinating people.
