The Mediterranean is in crisis. Or perhaps, in transformation. One of the most talked-about issues along Italyβs coastline today is the explosive arrival of an invasive species: the blue crab (Callinectes sapidus), native to the Atlantic coast of the United States. While beloved by many in North America for its sweet, delicate meat, in Italy the blue crab has become a serious ecological and economic threat.
But a group of five dynamic women from Rimini, known as the Mariscadoras, is turning this crisis into opportunity through their groundbreaking BluEat project.
